Since it was announced that the iconic RK studios which is owned by the Raj Kapoor family will be sold, Rishi Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan have come out and spoken about it.
Recently, in an interview, veteran actor Randhir Kapoor revealed the reason for selling the property. He said that as there’s a lot of traffic on the roads these days, no actor prefers to come to shoot to Chembur, where the studio is located. He added that his family is very emotional about it and it is with a very heavy heart that they (the family) have taken this decision.
He further said that it is more of an emotional loss, than monetary as the family lost all the memorabilia of Raj Kapoor when a fire broke out at the studio.
RK Films has produced films such as ‘Barsaat’, ‘Awaara’, ‘Boot Polish’, ‘Shri 420’ and ‘Jaagte Raho’. However, the fire burnt the main shooting venues of the studio and it was not economically viable to rebuild the whole structure.
